I have been working hard to track down a good Dallas Web Site Optimization Firm and have found a few and think I have to say DFW Based MasterLink is probally the best top ranking web design company I can find. They certainly have a staff of real experts and even offer free SEO Seminars if you happen to live close to DFW.

VoIP Hunt Continues to roll out new resources the most recent is a City Specific Search for 600 Texas Cities for VoIP and Cell Phone Services. Right now it is just a list but I am sure the project is on the way to make it as functional as all their other tools.

Microsoft Gets Into the VoIP Wold with a Bang!

Microsoft acquires VoIP developer

Microsoft said it has acquired Media-Streams.com, a 23-employee Zurich-based company that develops VoIP business applications. The software giant says it plans to incorporate Media-Streams' technologies into its corporate IM platform, Microsoft Office Live Communications Server (LCS) and its Office productivity tools. Media-Streams' software is already integrated with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange. The deal's financial terms were not disclosed. The move follows Microsoft's acquisition of VoIP startup Teleo this summer. Microsoft is incorporating Teleo's technology into its consumer IM service, MSN Messenger. The company's latest purchase will help it add VoIP to the Office Live platform, which already supports real-time communications via IM.

Universities testing wVoIP service
Three major universities are starting trials of the VeriSign Wireless IP onnect Service. Selected individuals at the University of Michigan, orthwestern University and Texas A&M will be able to receive and place calls using either the existing campus WiFi network or a commercial wireless carrier network while using a single device and phone number.
The VeriSign Wireless IP Connect Service provides a single, cellular-WiFi interconnection point that resolves interoperability issues within disparate networks and facilitates the delivery of end-to-end, next-generation features. The service allows cellular handsets to register as Internet Protocol devices when near a WiFi signal, giving users the ability to make and receive VoIP calls. By extending existing VoIP networks for use with mobile devices, universities can create a single network capable of handling an increasing amount of voice and data traffic.

Well I rember back in 2000 when Voice Over DSL was a huge buzz word and it was going to take over the world and be in every home in America. Now the dot coms went bust and the term VoDSL is not heard much but just what do you think broadband phone services are? VoDSL indeed.

So why was the term dropped. Well for one I guess a lot of people have cable modem and the marketing geniuses figured out to not market away from them but I think the big reason is all the term ever was ended up being a buzz word to sway investors. DSL was super hot and in growth mode so they used the term as a spring board.

Now the IP market has tons of competitors some will make it and some won't. It is going to be an interesting decade as WiMax and 3G have their impacts on the IP phone market and what about broadband over power? Why not more buzz for that technology? Well probally because the telecoms are shitting a brick over it that's why. When the electric companies get this thing right look for monthly broadband to drop well below ten bucks per megabit!

One last note this dude Jack Spirko seems to be on top of the market. Check out his article on Telecom Agent Income and his report Getting the Most From Broadband Phone Services. This is a guy with some deep understanding of our industry.

I emailed Jack and asked him to start a blog his response was "If I can find time" He was nice enough to add a blogs section to one of his companies sites and listed my blog there.
